[OOC post]
Hi, guys. Here’s the chronological list of RO servers I have played, along with my main classes (and the year, if I have it):
♦ 2003-2004, mRO (official local server at the time, now closed), played as a Water-Wind Magician. I got to Base Level 40, slaving away at Byalan dungeon, killing Marinas. After that, we needed to pay to play. I paid for a while with my pocket money, but being only a secondary school (high school) student, I can’t afford to and had to stop. The server is back online as the MSP RO. I don’t think I will play there because of two things: outdated content (no Rebels and Dorams) and demographics (I prefer a more diverse scene).
♦ valeforRO (closed), played as a Magnus Exorcismus (ME) Priest. It was a small server, like really small, and we all knew each other. An infamous one was named Tony. Here is where my first RO fan fics were born, along with super mild roleplaying. I’m not into RP so much, to be honest, haha. When the server closed, I moved to tRO.
♦ Sept 2005, trinityRO (closed), played as an ME High Priest (upgraded job, heheh). Slightly bigger population than vRO and I explored other jobs here, namely battle-type Blacksmith and homunculus-type Alchemist. When they closed, I moved to eRO.
♦ Jul 2006, edmontonRO (closed), played as ME High Priest and Gunslinger (revolver type). Here I explored some expanded classes (Ninja, Star Gladiator, Gunslinger only); but it was short-lived and I didn’t get to learn much. When they closed, I moved to bRO.
♦ Nov 2008-Jan 2014, BlackoutRO (closed, they have a new version now but pre-Renewal, so no Rebels and Cats), played as ME High Priest and Biochemist (Homunculus type). I finally learned of ‘server rates’, so bRO was midrate. I stayed in this server the longest because I could be a higher level (300) and we levelled up faster. Above all, we could tame almost any mobs we wanted with Abracadabra skill. Unfortunately, with the coming of Windows 8.1, there were some difficulties playing. By the time it was resolved, server was shutting down. So, I had to find a second-best option and moved to dRO.
♦ May 2015-Apr 2019, DreamerRO (voluntarily left), played as ME High Priest and Gunslinger (revolver type); later a Summoner (Picky Pecker). dRO is a high-rate PvP-loving server. I only knew of the PvP part later on. I played a bit without mingling with anyone, and went inactive for a year. When I came back, they had just added the third jobs, so that got me going and I even mingled with other players. My High Priest became an Archbishop, Adoramus type; and my Gunslinger became a Rebel. I began playing as Rebel more than AB. I also played a bit as a Sacrifice-type Royal Guard. All these jobs have lovely skills.
And then I decided to try the Summoner. I fell in love with the class and from then on, played nothing else because I wanted to master it, starting with the physical type, the Picky Pecker. That was when I realised how the server lacked in Rebel and Summoner skills and even more lacking in official contents (claiming to be at Episode 16.3, though no such Episode exists). The server also relied heavily on their own custom items (a bad thing, as per RateMyServer grading) and custom quest of being ‘Hero’ level. As a Doram Summoner, I can’t be hero.
I made some good friends, but I wanted to play as Summoner, not whatever it was that’s ‘meta’. I want to experience the Doram life at its fullest. Too many obstacles to a good gameplay for me as a Doram. So, I’m out. :< Thus began the hunt for the next best server, one which would have as much of the aspects I am looking for, and I found LRO.
♦ Apr 2019-Aug 2020, LimitRO (freshly-turned-high-rate server), played as a Summoner Picky Pecker. I still have an Adoramus AB (a male one this time because the female design is too cute) and a Rebel, though. Can’t leave these classes be, haha. When I came, it was Easter, so Zeny wasn’t an issue. LimitRO was heavenly for me, compared to Dreamer, and I enjoyed myself a lot. Sure, it was the lowest of the mid-rates, but I was occupied with exploring the class and also doing as much of the official quests as I could. I mean, damn, look at how many posts I have made in this blog! This blog exists because of LimitRO!
A year after, things began to settle down for me… but the server began changing, slowly but surely. I’ve summarised it on a rant post before (not here though, sorry). Changes are basically: new wave of players due to Coronavirus stay-at-home situations where some are troublemakers; and GM decided to make the temporary ‘rates boost’ become permanent, thus changing the server from a mid-rate into a high-rate server. The typical ripple effect of rate change happens, namely economy goes haywire, priorities shift, you attract other kinds of people into the server… It also brought about the rise of AFK-farming and banning of players, making the vibe of the server to be really… lame. Sure, I could just ignore and do my own thang, but the vibes… it reaches you unless you play alone (no fun!). Even Svenni is not coming online because he, too, dislikes the vibe of the server now and dislikes the way the admins do things.
The server now has a probability to become Dreamer 2.0 and if it does, we all know the outcome. One Doram and one Rebel will leave. It means nothing to the GM, but it sucks to keep jumping servers, you know… especially one that you have compromised with, accepted, and might even have feelings for.
Update (Aug 2020): That one Doram and one Rebel has left the server. We ran to iRO.
♦ March 2020, International RO / iRO (official server) I’m playing in the Chaos server as a Summoner, a Picky Pecker. I’ve always wanted to play in an official server because I want legal fun; but thanks to pirates, official servers have become pay-to-win. I just wish I knew it earlier that official servers were no longer the pay-to-play type anymore, but I was lost with the pirates at sea. Sigh.
Anyway, I started playing in March 2020. I thought LimitRO was super official, content-wise; but after playing iRO, I see many differences. Most of the necessary beginner headgears are in the Cash Shop (sigh). If my main currency was USD, I definitely would have spent some for iRO. And unlike the old days, levelling up is not as gruesome due to the introduction of bounty boards and stuff. In just a few months, I’m already at level 106 (and this is without Cash Shop items!).
So, I am going to keep playing on iRO as long as I can because I look forward to experiencing the official Royal Banquet and Terra Gloria episodes. Sure, iRO has its bugs as well and it may not have kRO contents like Limit; but at least, it’s official and legal.
P/S: I’m back at the old days of killing Marina. x’D Not as a Level 40 Mage though, but a Level 48 Acolyte and the EXP is still good.

I also play Ragnarok II (RO2) as a battle Priest (I just can’t play full-support, lol) and chose the Alchemist profession (didn’t know it was called Doctor once). I’m currently inactive, stopped at the point before moving on to Alberta. Can’t remember. I tried it out in 2013 but it was still Korean voices and managed by PlayPark. I left because the player sprites were too… cutesy. x’D I returned in Jan 2020 with a new account as it was now under WarpPortal. I play as a male this time. Lessens the cringe. I only play because Svenni plays, hahah… and well, I AM kinda curious to see how a 3D RO would look like.
I have also played Ragnarok Battle Offline, all three expansions. My main there is a male Thief and a female Magician. The sexes actually make a difference in gameplay, haha.
